Samples and Readings from The Road to the Cross

Where to

This book of poems follows the author's life in Christ, with all the questions, the worries, the trials, and the triumphs. She questions God, waits to hear His answer and then shares both in her search for wisdom.

The poems follow her growth in Christ, with the first one, Twenty-five Years, giving her testimony of all the years she was blinded by the lust for things of this world. One day, her eyes and ears were opened to the truth and love she found in God's word and in Him. Read about how she found safety and peace in the Lord, even while believing she had found success in the world. Below are some excerpts from some of the poems in the book.

Power in Prayer

A fervent thought, a whispered word,
breathed softly, then it's gone.
Taking flight, floating on air,
aloft as time passes on.

Once freed, our prayer will be heard.
God will lend power to our plea.
Be wise in what you say and think.
In Him, it could come to be.

Your Hand

Your Hand moves across the landscape and summer becomes fall.
You blink an eye and light changes to dark.
With one word, the heavens heed your call.
How mighty is your power, Lord.

We cry out to you and You forgive
even the worst of our sins.
You welcome us back with open arms
when we fail over and over again.
How deep is your love, Lord.

A Fire Within

I am looking straight ahead, Lord.
My eyes turn neither left nor right.
Your Grace has set my mind, Lord
To show the world Your Light.

From ashes I have risen
And to dust my body will return.
But, forever in my heart, Lord
A fire for You will burn.
